Day 4

Don't Waver

By Min. DJ

James 1:6-8

New Living Translation - “But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer. A doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.”

Message Bible - “Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.”

This scripture is the key to receiving anything from God. Ask boldly, expect Him to answer, and don’t waver and you will receive what you’ve asked for. (Of course you can only expect to receive from God what you know He’s already promised you in His word – but that’s another day another Devo).

Ask boldly, expecting Him to answer. This is the wrong way to pray – “Lord, pleeeease hear my prayer. I know I’m just a piece of trash to you and I don’t deserve to even be alive, but pleeeease Jesus pleeeease hear my prayer.” Some people think that this is being humble, but it’s not. Being humble is accepting what God says regardless of how you may feel. If you’re a Christian then this is how you should pray – “Father, I thank you that I’ve been made holy by the blood of Jesus and I qualify for what I’m about to ask for. I now ask in Jesus name for (blah zay splee). Now I know that you’ve heard my prayer so I know that it’s done. Good looking out Papa!”

Don’t waver. To waver means to go back and forth between choices. If you have decided to believe that God answered your prayer then don’t change your mind about it later. No matter what it looks like, stick to your guns and you’re going to have what you asked for.

The verse says that a person that can’t make up their mind about what they believe shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord. God is faithful. He’s trustworthy. He absolutely cannot lie. When He says He’s going to do something, He does it. Flat out. We have to be the same way. When we say that we believe something, we don’t budge. Flat out. And we’ll always come out on top!
